- Any person requesting to post the bail of an inmate uses the bail phone in the Public Lobby to call the Intake Supervisor (or on weekends calls the Central Control Room Supervisor) to inform the Supervisor which inmate they wish to bail.
- Supervisor(s) will conduct a release review to see if the inmate has any other legal hold.
- The Supervisor will notify the depositor that the inmate will not be released if an additional legal hold exists; and, informs the depositor of the bail amount and the bail clerk’s fee. The depositor is informed that only cash or a cashier’s check for amounts $10,000 or more (depending on the bail clerk assigned) is accepted and that a personal check or a money order is not accepted.
- The Intake Supervisor reviews with the Bail Clerk any unclear documentation that may impact the inmate’s eligibility for release.
- The Intake Supervisor consults with the Captain of Intake/Classification or, in his/her absence, the Assistant Superintendent of Intake/Classification to attempt to resolve any disagreement over or uncertainty with the legality of the release of an inmate.
- The Intake Supervisor or the Assistant Superintendent of Intake/Classification orders the continued custody of an inmate whose appropriateness for release remains unclear.
- The Bail Clerk confirms that the depositor has all of the funds.
- The Bail Clerk signs the mittimus accepting bail that allows the inmate to be released from that particular mittimus.
- An inmate who has posted bail on a mittimus that requires the inmate to be supervised under ELMO (electronic monitoring) is held and is transported to the next session of the court that issued the mittimus. The inmate is not scheduled or brought before said court if they have another active legal hold. A copy of the mittimus will be provided to the Probation Department.
- No public member who has an active, no-contact restraining order against the inmate may receive the releasing inmate.
